And for the Walters Art Museum, Huzzah!

You may have suspected that I have a tiny bit of a crush on this museum, and you'd have been right in the past. But not anymore! Now my admiration has blossomed into a feeling far to warm to be described as a mere crush, and in a moment I think your's will too.

They are offering the companion book to their exhibit, "Revealing the African Presence in Renaissance Europe" free for both viewing on-line and downloading.

I'm still gonna by a paper copy but now I'm gonna ask them to autograph it! <3

Oooh! On-line instructions for drafting your own drawers.

While the exact shape and technique would need to be modified to make a more 16th century pair of drawers, the ideas and discussion around fit, sizing and body shape are well thought out, easy to understand and very helpful!

Please note:
If the link above isn't working (it's on and off again for me) just go to the "The Compendium" tab at the top of the sewingacademy's home page, scoll down the page to the Free Patterns for women section, and there the drawers pattern will be.

Blackwork, oh my!

Surely one of us needs this?

Things I'm wondering about

I realized that my response to comments in response to my last entry was oh-so-full of...let's call them typographical errors. So I decided to see if I could edit my comment. Being the enterprising I-will-learn-to-use-blogger,-I-will! kind of girl I am, I decided to go poke around in the features of the comments tab and see what I could do.

Presto! No more comment.

What, I wonder, is the purpose of having both a delete option and a modify comment option if the modify comment option simply deletes it also?

I'm thinking it's all about entrapment.

Oh my! 2001!

I almost can't believe it. I've been blogging for 4 months and 2 days and I just passed 2000 page views. People stop in from all over the world. It's amazing.

(And very flattering!)

Thank you all so much for paying attention to my small corner of the 'World Wide Web.'

The world keeps spinning...

Whether we notice or not!

Many years ago I developed an interest in chopines (an ancient Italian form of platform shoe) and did all the research I could think of on-line, bought one of the few books with a section on the subject, bought some supplies for a trial pair I was going to make "someday" and the whole concept has pretty much been encased in resin in my mind for years!

And then came today.

Today I was looking about for examples of extant hairpins and ended up being lead to this:

Which may just be the holy grail of websites on "Chopine, Zoccolo, and Other Raised Heel and High Heel Construction."

I'm planning on attempting a pair of chopines for my IRCC outfit. Let me tell you, they are going to be a lot better now!
