How pretty! I love acorns. Did you use some kind of jig or do them freehand? The shape of the pins is really interesting. Is it because of your curly hair? Mine is totally stick straight so the waviness would show horribly.
Thanks! I'm embroidering the camicia with acorns so I really couldn't resist these when I saw them.
I suppose the way my hair interacts with pins must be related to the texture somehow... It has never made much sense to me that straight pins fall right out of my hair but apparently are able to hold in much straighter hair than mine. I'd think it would be the other way around! I think that you are right and the wave on the pin interlocks with my hair and stays put.
This is my first attempt at making my own pins and they are probably more wavy than they need to be but I want to use them to secure a pretty extensive hairpiece so I wanted them strong.
A jig and jewelry saw would have made a much cleaner cut at the tips of the acorns but I just used what I had on hand, the eensy-weensy little jewelry snips on the pillow in the earlier photo.
I confess I am no considering whether they would be even better with some enamel... :)
Oh! I can be such a dummy! I cut all the wires to approximately the same length and then I bent them freehand. I might make a jig if I make another set. It would make them a lot more consistent.
